A CRM for contractors does a narrower job than the word suggests. It catches every lead (calls, web forms, Angi), shows where each one stands, reminds you to follow up, turns the lead into an estimate or proposal, and keeps the customer's history in one place once the job is sold. For a small construction company the question is less "which CRM" than "how much of the business should live in it": just the sales pipeline, or estimates, schedules and job costing too.

This roundup covers seven tools: five built for contractors (JobTread, Contractor Foreman, Builder Prime, Leap and Knowify), a field service platform with sales tools (Housecall Pro), and HubSpot as the general-CRM option. Prices are from each vendor's own pricing page as of October 27, 2026. We compare published plans and features; we haven't run each tool on live leads.

Left out: Jobber, Buildertrend (which now includes CoConstruct), Houzz Pro, JobNimbus, Pipedrive, Zoho CRM and monday CRM. We couldn't load current US pricing for them from their own sites, and we don't publish prices we can't check. Roofers should also read our roofing estimate software and roofing CRM comparison, which covers Roofr, ProLine, AccuLynx and RoofLink in detail.

JobTread: CRM, estimating and job costing for builders

JobTread is construction management software aimed at home builders, remodelers, pool builders and specialty contractors, and its CRM is the front end of that. Web-to-lead forms with custom fields embed on your website or go out as a link, and new leads land straight in JobTread. You move them through a pipeline on Kanban boards, see the full history of interactions, and create follow-up tasks. A lead then becomes an estimate, a contract with e-signature and a job with a budget, and customers get their own portal.

Pricing is one plan with every feature: $199 a month including the first internal user, then $20 a month each for users 2–10, $15 for users 11–20, $10 for 21–30 and $5 beyond that. Annual billing saves 20% ($16 a user for users 2–10). Customer, vendor and sub portal users are free and unlimited, and some field crew who only upload photos, log notes and check their schedule can be added free too. There's no free trial, no contract and no setup fee, and monthly plans have a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Best for: home builders and remodelers who want the lead, the estimate and the job budget in one system. Its estimating side is covered in our contractor estimating software comparison.

Contractor Foreman: a CRM inside a low-cost construction platform

Contractor Foreman is an all-in-one construction platform for general contractors, subs and remodelers, with a Leads Manager (lead sources, stages and next steps), Opportunities for tracking what you're bidding, an Angi Leads (HomeAdvisor) integration that imports leads automatically, and estimates on every plan.

Plan Billed annually Billed monthly Users CRM tools
Basic $49/mo Annual only 1 Estimates
Standard $105/mo $139/mo Up to 3 Adds Opportunities and Angi Leads
Plus $166/mo $199/mo Up to 8 Adds Leads Manager, scheduling, bid management, custom templates
Pro $221/mo $279/mo Up to 15 Adds client portal
Unlimited $332/mo $399/mo Unlimited Everything

Annual plans start with a 30-day free trial, and annual Plus, Pro and Unlimited carry a 100-day money-back guarantee. Monthly plans are charged immediately, with a 30-day money-back guarantee on Plus and up.

Best for: small general contractors and remodelers who want lead tracking, estimates, bids and project management at a listed price, with room for a crew of eight on Plus.

Builder Prime: CRM for home improvement sales teams

Builder Prime is built for home improvement companies that run an in-home sales process: windows and doors, roofing, siding, remodeling, painting, concrete coatings, baths, outdoor living and fencing. It covers lead tracking and pipeline management, automated follow-up, SMS and email marketing automation, a built-in call center, estimates and proposals, digital contracts with e-signature, sales scheduling, commission tracking, then work orders, production scheduling, invoicing, payments and QuickBooks sync.

Pricing is a $300 monthly platform fee plus $60 a month per core user (office staff, admins and salespeople with full access) and $10 a month per field user (crews on the mobile app). Annual billing saves 17%. Add-ons are optional: two-way SMS at $200 a month plus $0.03 per message, multi-location at $25 a user, and Bolt Insights AI analytics at $25 per core user with a $150 monthly minimum. It's month-to-month by default. Enterprise pricing (50+ users, multi-location, franchises) is quoted.

Best for: established home improvement and painting companies with several salespeople, where commission tracking and follow-up automation pay for the platform fee.

Painting contractors split the same way: if you sell repaints in the customer's home, Builder Prime or Leap fit the in-home sales process; if you bid commercial or new-construction painting and run QuickBooks, Knowify or Contractor Foreman fit better.

Leap CRM: in-home sales for remodelers and roofers

Leap targets roofing, remodeling, windows and doors, kitchen and bath, and residential construction.

Plan Price What you get
Leap CRM Essential $79/mo 1 user only; lead and customer management, appointment calendar, estimates and proposals, 5 digital signatures
Leap CRM Team From $298/mo First user included, $99/mo per added user; adds unlimited signatures, Leap Pay, workflow and production automations, customer and subcontractor portal, invoicing
Leap SalesPro Premium From $750/mo 6 users; in-home sales app with discount controls, in-app pricing, unlimited in-app signatures and 5 free remote signatures

Essential has a 14-day free trial. Leap sells all plans as one-year contracts paid monthly, so check that before you sign up for Team.

Best for: a one-person remodeling or roofing sales operation (Essential) and small teams that sell at the kitchen table (Team).

Knowify: CRM tied to QuickBooks for trade contractors

Knowify is built for trade contractors (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, remodeling, concrete) doing fixed-price, AIA and service work. It syncs with QuickBooks Online on every plan (Knowify says nearly everything, both ways), and estimates, proposals and contracts are on every plan. It's lighter on sales pipeline than JobTread or Builder Prime: the custom Kanban workflows (up to ten stages per board) and the client portal start on Advanced.

Core is $99 a month billed yearly ($149 billed monthly) and includes one user; Advanced is $329 a month billed yearly ($399 monthly) with 10 users. Extra users are $29 a month each, and Enterprise (unlimited users, inventory) is quoted. A free trial is offered.

Best for: trade subs and small GCs who live in QuickBooks and care more about contracts, billing and job costing than about chasing leads.

Housecall Pro: sales tools on a field service platform

Housecall Pro is field service software, so its CRM is customer records, quotes, online booking and review requests rather than a long sales pipeline. Basic is $59 a month billed annually ($79 monthly) for one user, Essentials is $149 annually ($189 monthly) with 5 users, and MAX is $299 annually ($329 monthly) with 8 users and $35 a month per extra user. MAX includes a sales proposal tool for visual, side-by-side options. Housecall Pro also offers a Pipeline tool for tracking leads with automated follow-ups, which its pricing page lists as an add-on with no price. There's a 14-day free trial of MAX and no long-term contract. Full plan details are in our Housecall Pro pricing guide.

Best for: handyman and small service contractors whose jobs are measured in hours or days, not months.

HubSpot: the general-CRM option

HubSpot's free CRM covers up to 2 users and 1,000 total contacts, with 10 custom properties. Starter is normally $20 per seat a month and removes the user cap (you buy seats). At the time of writing HubSpot was running a limited-time offer for new customers: $7 per seat a month paid annually upfront, or $10 month to month.

What you give up is everything construction-specific: no cost catalog, takeoff, change orders, schedules or job costing. Contractors who go this route usually keep estimating in a separate tool (see our free contractor estimate template if you're still on spreadsheets).

Best for: a contractor whose bottleneck is follow-up on a few big leads, who wants a free start and is happy to keep estimates elsewhere.

The trade-off: general CRM or construction CRM?

General CRMs like HubSpot, Pipedrive, Zoho and monday are better at sales mechanics: pipelines, email tracking, sequences and reporting. Construction CRMs are better at the estimate, which is where most contractors' sales time actually goes, and at handing the sold job to production without re-typing it. If you sell a handful of large projects a year, a general CRM plus a good estimating tool can be enough. If you send dozens of estimates a month, pick a tool where the estimate lives in the CRM.

How to choose a CRM for your contracting business

  1. Map where leads come from. Website forms, Angi, phone calls, referrals. Check that the CRM captures each one without copy-paste: JobTread has web-to-lead forms, Contractor Foreman imports Angi leads, Builder Prime has a built-in call center. If calls are your main source, an answering service for contractors matters as much as the CRM.
  2. Count users the vendor's way. JobTread and Builder Prime charge per office user but give cheap or free field access; Contractor Foreman and Housecall Pro cap users by plan; Leap Essential allows one.
  3. Decide whether scheduling and job costing belong in the same tool. If yes, look at JobTread, Contractor Foreman or Knowify. Our contractor scheduling software guide covers the scheduling side.
  4. Read the contract terms. Leap plans are one-year contracts; Builder Prime and JobTread are month-to-month by default; Contractor Foreman offers a 100-day money-back guarantee on annual plans.
  5. Check accounting. Most of these sync with QuickBooks; Knowify is built around it. See QuickBooks for contractors for setup.
  6. Start with your follow-up gap. The CRM pays for itself on leads you used to forget. Pick the tool whose follow-up reminders your team will actually use, then grow into the rest.

Once leads are flowing, more of them come from reviews and referrals; our remodeling contractor marketing guide covers where to find them.
